More than just a pretty face...
Miss England celebrates the achievements of women and we are looking for a positive role model to inspire others. Miss England is so much more than a beauty contest. Many people think this type of contest is about looking good and parading around in a swimsuit, but you could not be any further from the truth. The main objective is to raise money for good courses and also set a good example to others. The swimsuits are long gone as part of the event and its now about what a contestant does and not just about looks. Many of the winners of Miss England are anything but what you would expect to hold the title Miss England, like Bhasha Mukherjee. During the Coronavirus crisis in the UK, Bhasha set aside her crown and returned to her job as a Doctor to care for those affected by the virus. Then you have Katrina Hodge who when she was Miss England was a serving member of the British Army! Katrina had earned a commendation for her bravery whilst serving with the Royal Anglian Regiment in Iraq for wrestling 2 rifles from a prisoner following a road traffic accident. So you think it is all about swimsuits? And the list goes on!
So what do those who win the crown do? Along with taking part in the traditional Catwalk Style Contest, Miss England contestants who reach the final are encouraged to:-
- Raise funds & awareness for Beauty with a
Purpose.
- Arrange sponsored gifts to donate to charity.
- Take part in a creative ECO fashion round.
- Compete in a sports round.
- Complete a general knowledge quiz.
- Take part in a beach beauty shoot.
- Submit a short video for the talent round.
All winners of Miss Liverpool City Region are expected to help promote the Region at events and in other forms, such as helping charities and going on both TV and Radio, throughout the Title Holders year. Winners are automatically entered into the Miss England Contest and should they gain the title of Miss England, they will go on to represent England at Miss World.
